마추 피추 역사 보호지구 (Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu)
ㅇ 안데스 산맥 2,430m에 위치해 있는 잉카제국 高原 도시창조의 뛰어남을 보여주는 유적으로 거대한 성벽, 테라스, 경사로 등이 마치 자연적으로 바위가 지속적으로 깎여 형성된 단애층처럼 보이고, 동쪽 경사면 상부의 아마존 분지에는 다양한 동식물종이 서식하고 있음.

Machu Picchu stands 2,430 m above sea-level, in the middle of a tropical mountain forest, in an extraordinarily beautiful setting. It was probably the most amazing urban creation of the Inca Empire at its height; its giant walls, terraces and ramps seem as if they have been cut naturally in the continuous rock escarpments. The natural setting, on the eastern slopes of the Andes, encompasses the upper Amazon basin with its rich diversity of flora and fauna.
